In the past couple of days I have been trying to promote BlingChat using facebook ads. I do get clicks but non is converted to actual engagement with the bot. I’m sending them to m.me/blingbot, but I don’t see conversions. Any experience with that?

Facebook ads have a separate type for messenger ads. You use Messenger as the destination. Make sure you’re using that. Additionally, You have to create each one manually as well. Do not clone / copy the ads. It won’t work. There’s still a fair number of bugs in the messenger ads. Be diligent. The reporting is difficult to dig into so far.
